Review: Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish (MSF) in Soft & Gentle is a product that has been sat on my wishlist for quite some time. I have always lusted after it but never bought it as didn’t deem it necessary (how wrong was I?!) However, one of my friends asked what I would like for my birthday and I asked her for this, so now I have it in my grasp I thought I would tell you my thoughts.

Previously to this I had only ever tried cream and liquid highlighters, the old favourite Benefit High Beam, and the cult classic Jemma Kidd All Over Radience Cream in Rose Gold. Benefit High Beam is a bit pale for my skin tone and as much as I love the Jemma Kidd highlighter it is very subtle and wanted something a bit more noticeable, especially for the summer, when it always nice to have a bit more of a glow. Annie Levy, make-up artist to the Made In Chelsea cast revealed recently in an article that this was the only highlighter that you will ever need! Those girls from Chelsea always have the most glowing, radiant complexions, so I was sold!

Mac describe this product as being a luxurious, velvet-soft powder with high-frost metallic finish. Smoothes on: adds buffed-up highlights to cheeks, brows, anywhere on the body: provides an ultra-deluxe polish to the skin. I have been using it as a highlighting powder on the tops of my cheekbones, under my brows and slightly down the centre of my nose and it just makes my make-up look flawless, giving the skin a wonderful glow. I use the Real Techniques Setting Brush with this and find that this is the perfect size to apply just enough powder to these smaller areas of my face. This gorgeous bronzey, gold powder really compliments my skintone and provides a radiance that completes my look.

For a powder that I put off buying for so long, I don’t think I would be without it now, although I have to say that I won’t be rushing out anytime soon to repurchase, the pot is huge! A great addition to my summer make-up wardrobe.

This is £21.50 and is available from House of Fraser, Debenhams and Selfridges.
