I was recently Tagged by my lovely friend Liza from Glambeautys to do this. I am really into my skincare and they are my favourite posts to write about so hopefully this will give you a bigger insight to me and my skin!
1. Describe your skincare routine in five words:
Gentle, Effective, Thorough, Experimental, Enjoyable
2. What is your skin type?
I have combination, dehydrated, acne-prone skin which can be sensitive (nightmare!). I am currently taking antibiotics to control my outbreaks as ever since I had my son, my skin has been terrible and these are doing a great job in killing the bacteria which lead to acne. I don’t want to be on them forever, but they are working for me at the moment. I also have a good skincare routine alongside these so am pretty happy with things at the moment.
3. What is your favourite skincare product?
This is a hard one as there are so many I like but the one thing that has changed my skin dramatically is Alpha-H Liquid Gold. It is a resurfacing treatment with glycolic acid that you apply to cleansed skin about 3 times a week. It improves the texture and tone of your skin, reduces pore size, acne scarring and my skin looks brighter. I have been using it for about a year now and it has definitely done wonders to my skin, I can’t recommend it highly enough.
4. Top blemish zapper?
Aside from the antibiotics, my favourite spot treatment is Origins Super Spot Remover Treatment Gel. This comes in the tiniest bottle but seriously lasts ages as you only need the smallest amount. It is an really effective treatment that clears spots up really quickly without drying the skin out. This is really important for me as often spot treatments dry the skin out leaving a flakey mess which is not what you want. It also smells lovely!
5. Face wipes….yay or nay?
Nay! Ever since I have learnt about proper skincare, I have ditched the wipes in favour of a Micellar water such as Bioderma on a cotton pad to remove all my make-up. Face wipes just push the dirt around the skin and don’t remove make-up effectively.
6. Toner….yay or nay?
Yay! I actually use two toners in my skincare routine after cleansing. One to gently exfoliate the skin followed by another to hydrate the skin. My toners of choice at the moment are the much coveted Pixi Glow Tonic and Liz Earle Skin Tonic. You can read more about the benefits of using toners in my recent post here.
7. High end skincare or high end make up?
High end skincare 100%! I think that if you invest in your skincare then you will have a better canvas so that whatever make-up you put on top of it will look better. Having said that I would always invest in a high end foundation as my skin is quite reactive to drugstore/high street bases.
8. You’re in a French pharmacy and can only buy one item, what would it be?
Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution as it is the ultimate make-up remover. I am also interested in getting the La Roche Posay Serozinc Toner as it is unavoidable in the UK and have read great things about it!
9. Top skincare tip?
Always remove your make-up before bed and start using acids, (particularly glycolic) on your skin, you will notice a great improvement.
I tag any of my readers that have a blog to do this, would love to know more about everyone’s skin care habits!
