August has been such a hectic month, I have had lots of parties and hen dos up and down the country which have been amazing. I have though been trying out some new products too, and also digging out some old favourites, so here is what I have been loving this month:
Diptique Lait Frais Body Lotion
Apart from their beautiful candles, Diptyque is a brand that I havent really tried. This (rather generous) sample has been in my drawer for ages, and as I have been trying to use things up recently, I thought I would give this a whirl. When I first sniffed it, I wasn’t blown away by the scent, but once applied it leaves the most wonderful aroma which lasts on the skin all day. It is fairly floral yet sweet and combines orange blossom water, sweet almond oil and macadamia nut. It is lovely and light but really feels as though it is nourishing the skin.
Clinique High Impact Extreme Mascara
I have been faithful to Maybelline The Falsies mascara for a while now, but the blogger instinct in me wanted to try something different and as this had been getting rave reviews, I decided on this as my new mascara. It it comes in beautiful sleek packaging, with a wideish straight plastic wand. It is fairly easy to apply, (a couple of mini clumps here and there, but nothing too drastic!) and in one coat it gives lengthened volumuminous lashes which does not budge all day, no flaking or smudging. I always apply two coats however and love the effect it gives to my eyes. The only thing I would say is that I tried this on one eye and Maybelline The Falsies on the other and the effect it gives is pretty similar, and at more than double the price, I’m not sure that it is worth it. However, I am loving it for now and really do think that it a fabulous mascara.
Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Punch
As I said when I reviewed these here, I don’t think these are the best for long-term moisturisation. However the colour Pink Punch gives the lips such a beautiful wash of bubblegum pink, temporarily hydrating the lips and protecting them from sun damage as they have an SPF 20 in them. It is a great lip balm to pop in your bag and apply on-the-go, as no mirror is required with these. I like to take them to work, as I can just apply it at my desk to brighten up my make-up. A lovely summery colour so I’m trying to make the most of it while I can!
My skin had a crazy break out the other week, it was horrendous! I hadn’t used this for ages, but whipped it out from my stash and it has literally saved my skin! It is a corrective and unclogging anti-imperfection treatment which does exactly that, reduces imperfections and unclogs sebum-blocked pores! When I got home from work, I removed my make-up, cleansed my skin and applied this gel-loke cream. I looked at my skin and hour or so later and all the redness and itching had subsided and my skin felt smooth again. I used it for a few days morning and night and my skin resumed normalness once more. I wouldn’t use this as an everyday treatment, unless you have problem skin, but it is definitely an essential for desperate times!
I have been using this a couple of times a week throughout August and it is the most divine (no pun intended!) smelling scrub ever that leaves your skin super smooth! It is part of the Caudalie Divine range which I recently talked about here, and it really does an amazing job at exfoliating the skin. It is quite a coarse scrub which is due to all the brown sugar in it, but as you work it in, it dissolves down to a smoother scrub, leaving the skin incredibly soft and smooth!
I can honestly say that this is the best hair mask I have ever used. I use this once a week as a deep conditioning treatment and it is amazing for repairing and nourishing without weighing down my fine hair. The macademia and argan oils do a great job at conditioning and make it smell amazing. The best thing about it though is that I can style my hair as usual afterwards and it doesn’t make it too soft and limp that it is unmanageable. It is a great price too.
I am sad that summer is nearly over but looking forward to all the new launches coming in September, namely Charlotte Tilbury and Michael Kors, both their ranges look incredible! I am also excited for all the autumnal colours and berry shades that will be making their way into my make-up bag too!
