Over the past month or so, I have been doing my fair share of partying, which for someone with a two year old, is a bit of a novelty, but I have loved every minute! I always think it is those finishing touches that make you feel party-ready, so here are my top tips for glaming it up!
There is nothing that says party like a pair of false lashes! I don’t really wear them too often if I’m honest, but they are the ultimate accessory for making you eyes look big and beautiful. The Soho lashes from Millie Mackintosh are gorgeous, they are so comfortable to wear, have a clear band which makes them look seamless and even come with a mini pair of tweezers which come in so handy for applying them. I cannot fault them, available here from Feel Unique.
Highlighter is a must-have if you are planning to paint the town red! Added to the top of the cheek bone, brow bone, centre of the nose and cupids bow will give your face a different dimension when the light hits your face. Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle (full review here) is the ultimate highlighter that gives a beautiful radiance to you face whether using it during the day or at night, which really sets off you face and completes your look.
I have recently got into wearing bolder colours on my lips and this lip combo is beautiful for a long-lasting, glossy look. I first line and fill in the lip using Mac Cherry Lipliner. This of course can be worn alone, especially if you want a Matte look, but for the ultimate glam lip, I like to use Stila Lip Glaze in Holly (part of a set) over the top for that glossy finish. The liner gives the longevity and the gloss provides the glam!
For an instant tan, that can be washed off at the end of the night, St Tropez Instant Glow Body Lotion is a great quick fix for bronzed legs in a matter of seconds. It blends in easily and leaves a pretty deep tan, perfect if you have forgotten to fake tan. Finally, I sweep on a coating of Benefit Hollywood Glo which is mine and my friends favourite product for highlighting the body. Unfortunately this product has been discontinued, much to our dismay so I use it for party nights only. It is a creamy highlighter that comes with a giant powder puff to apply over the body and is perfect to accentuate the collar bone, cleavage, shoulders, legs and arms! Please Benefit bring this back, it is a much loved and much wanted product in gorgeous packaging.
Finally, after styling my hair which is normally extra volume or an up-do, an essential is the L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray. This sets the hair perfectly, without feeling sticky or hard and can be easily brushed out. This mini sized can is also perfect for popping in your clutch to top-up during the evening.
What are your party essentials? Has anybody else tried the amazing Hollywood Glo by Benefit? We need to get a petition going to get them to bring it back!
