I usually prefer to use a micellar water like Bioderma to remove my make up, but thought I would give this cleansing oil a go instead. I religiously used to use the Mac Cleanse Off Oil, but since my love for micellar waters took over, I haven’t really used anything else. I have been really interested in the Super Facialist range, and have previously used the Rose Calming Clearing Cleanser which I loved (apart from the smell!), so when I saw the Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil was a third off in Boots, I thought I would give it a try.
Firstly, a shout out to the smell…wow! If you have ever tried The Body Shop Satsuma range, it smells exactly like that, bursting with orange zest, so before I had even tried this, I knew it would be a pleasure to use! The idea of this oil is to use it as the first step of a double cleanse to remove all your make-up, before your second, deeper cleanse. You only need a tiny amount of this oil for your whole face, which is quite tricky to measure as it doesn’t contain a pump, so is just a free pouring oil. That aside, once you have poured out a small amount, you just massage it into your skin which feels really nice and gives the feeling that the skin is really being nourished. You then add a splash of warm water which makes it emulsify into a milky lotion which then can be rinsed off, or as I prefer, remove using a warm flannel.
The oil itself is infused with Vitamin C, olive, grapeseed and rosehip oils which all contribute to its nourishing qualities. Rosehip oil in particular is well known for its skin enhancing properties such as fading scars and pigmentation as well as smoothing and moisturising the skin. The oil feels really nice on the skin and it is lovely to give your face a mini massage. Once removed from the skin, my skin feels amazing and so clean as it removes every last scrap of make-up. It does not feel in any way stripped at all, just soft and clean in preparation for a second cleanse. I still use Bioderma to remove my eye make-up as prefer to do this before I cleanse, however I have tried it on eye make-up and it does a great job of removing that too.
I have combination-oily skin that is fairly sensitive and acne prone and I have had no reactions what so ever from this cleansing oil, and to be honest I think my skin has improved. My skin is definitely loving this and I think I prefer this to micellar water, although would still use Bioderma to remove my eye make-up and for when I go away as the bottle is not very travel friendly. Would love a pump on this bottle and then it would be the perfect product!
This is available from Boots and is currently on offer for £7.33 for 200ml
