I was so excited when Tanya Burr announced that she was releasing a range of lipglosses and nail varnishes, I am a massive fan of Tanya, and she was one of the first YouTubers that I subscribed too over 3 years ago. She seems like such a lovely lady and inspires so many people. She has taught me so much about make-up over the past few years, so I could not wait to try out her very own products.
On lauch day, I promptly ordered two of the lipglosses and two nail polishes but due to a delay with the nail polish and then a confusion with my change of address, it took me three weeks to get them. However, they are here now, so cannot wait to share my thoughts with you all. Her range, which is a collaboration with eye CANDY comprises of twelve lipglosses and ten nail polishes all of which are very wearable shades, and I found it tough to decide which ones to buy as they all looked so nice. Tanya actually chose all the shade names herself, named after all her favourite things, which I think adds a lovely personal touch and is much more fun than just a number!
The Lip Gloss
The range of lip glosses is a mixture of creme and shimmer finishes! The two I decided upon were Afternoon Tea and Champagne Toast. Afternoon Tea is an opaque creme gloss which is dusky pink in colour, and is the one that I have been literally wearing non-stop since I’ve got it. Being an avid wearer of a smokey eye, this is the perfect shade to compliment a darker eye. I love how opaque it is, it gives a similar finish to if you had applied a lipstick with a gloss over the top, so is like an all in one, fuss free product! Champagne Toast however, is more sheer in finish and is bronze in colour with a golden shimmer running though it. It is perfect for when you want a natural look to your lips, or equally paired with a nude lipstick for a more intense shade. Both shades are fairly thick in consitancy and give a high-gloss look, which are in no-way gloopy or sticky, they just impart a beautiful shine.
I absolutely love these glosses and think they are fantastic quality for the £6.99 price tag. The wand is a flat, doe foot applicator that makes it really easy to apply to the lips. They have good staying power, although I am rubbish at gauging the length of time, as always find I reapply frequently no matter what gloss it is! They smell amazing too, just like strawberry milkshake which makes me enjoy them all they more, there is nothing worse than a funky smelling lip product! I am so impressed with these and can’t wait to add more to my collection, next on the list is Picnic in the Park.
The Nail Polish
The nail polish shades I chose were Bright and Early, a vibrant pink-toned coral (couldn’t resist another coral!) and Penguin Chic, a cool-toned grey. How pretty do they look? I love colours I chose and think they would look amazing together too in a spot of nail art, although I don’t really have the patience for that!
They apply very smoothly and easily across the nail and although the brush is a little thinner than I usually prefer, it does the job very well. After one coat, they are both pretty much opaque, but I always prefer to do two coats for that more finished look. They dry fairly quickly and have a lovely finish even without a topcoat (which is how they appear in the photos), and last for approximately three days before chipping. Again, I cannot really fault them, and at £5.99 they definitely won’t break the bank!
Congratulations Tanya on a truely lovely collection, I cannot wait to see what you will bring out next!
