There is nothing I love more than a product sent to help my somewhat dehydrated skin. Yes, it is combination-oily but I do suffer with dehydration too, resulting in redness, irritation and flakey skin if I do not keep it properly hydrated. I have found that targeting this problem with a hydrating serum the best way to keep my skin under control. You may have have seen from a previous post on Morning Serums (link here), that I was loving the hydrating effects of the Caudalie SOS Serum, well, this is better!
The Avène Soothing Hydrating Serum* is a gel-like serum which you apply before your moisturiser, and although can be used both morning and evening, I have soley been using this in the morning. This is simply because I use other treatments/oils in my evening skincare routine and really want to tackle my dehydration throughout the day to keep my make-up looking as fresh as possible.
One pump of this serum is enough to cover the whole face, it sinks in quickly and feels lovely and soothing, leaving the skin soft and supple, unlike the taught feeling of Hydraluron which I didn’t really get on with. I then apply my daytime moisturiser and continue with my make-up as usual.
Being an Avène product, it is suitable for the most sensitive of skins, and also skin that gets affected by stress, pollution or irritation. It contains a high concentration of Avène Thermal Spring Water which helps to soothe and heal the skin, and the addition of Glycerin aids hydration and leaves the skin nourished.
I have been using this for nearly two months now and my skin has been in great condition recently which I definitely think is due to this. The redness I have in my skin has been greatly reduced, irritations I often experience have calmed and my skin generally feels a lot happier. My make-up also seems to last longer without being absorbed by my skin and creating a patchy appearance. I honestly cannot fault this product and would wholeheartedly recommend it and repurchase it once it has run out!
