Functionalab Skincare

Up until now Functionalab were a brand that I had never heard of, and if you, like me have never heard of them, I am hear to awaken you to their product as they are fantastic. They are an innovative, premium brand with scienced-based supplement solutions that promotes a holistic approach to beauty, health, and nutrition. I do take a keen interest when a brand uses nutrition as part of their development as having studied nutrition, I really do think that nutrition and beauty go hand in hand. Pricey, yet effective, these products really deliver and need to be on everyone’s radar especially as they are available in Boots (who knew?)! I have been testing out the Intense Hydration Anti-Ageing Cream and the Eye Contour Serum for a couple of months now and am now ready to share my thoughts.

Let’s begin with the Intense Hydration Anti-Ageing Cream* (£75) which aims to “visibly improve skin radiance and stimulate the skin cells to produce more barrier lipids on the top layer of skin and lock in hydration.” If you are frequent reader of ALPOC, you will know that I do suffer with dehydration despite having combination to oily skin and like to use products to combat this. I need something that hydrates my skin without being too rich for my skin…this does just that! Even though this has a fairly thick consistancy, it is actually quite lightweight when applied and literally glides across the skin being instantly absorbed. My skin feels immediately hydrated and soothed after applying this and literally feels like a big drink of water for the skin! It smells wonderfully of oranges and a little goes a long way, so I’m sure the pot will last at least six months, which is good to know if you are spending this sort of money on a moisturiser. It is suitable for use day and night, and does not irritate my skin or interfere with make-up, providing a lovely base. Keeping the skin hydrated is the key to anti-ageing as visible lines and wrinkles are reduced, so I am doing my best to prevent this while I can by using hydrating products to keep my skin plump. Highly recommended!

Talking of ageing, the eye area is one of the first areas that you will notice visible signs in the form of fine lines and crows feet, so an eye cream is essential to slow down the ageing process. As the skin here is thinner than the rest of your face, it is especially susceptible to dehydration and loss of tone. The Functionalab Eye Contour Serum* (£45), is a beautifully light serum that requires no effort to apply as it slips along the under eye area, so no dragging or pulling required. It comes in a pump container which I personally love for hygiene and convenience and half a pump is all that is required for both eyes. It contains patented ingredients that provide an immediate tensor effect to lift and brighten, and feels incredibly soothing too, so even though this is suitable both day and night, it is extremely beneficial in the morning to give the effect of a good nights sleep, who doesn’t want that? After two months of continued use, I can see a visible difference it the appearance of my fine lines around my eye. The skin definitely looks smoother and more hydrated, and consequently reduced the depth of my wrinkles! A great investment!
