Earlier in the week, I wrote a guest post for Liza’s blog, Glambeautys. I thought I would share it with you here on my blog too incase you missed it! Hope you enjoy!
I have been a one mascara girl for sometime now, mascara is something that you cannot hang onto for too long, so don’t see the point in having a load of different ones. For a while I have just used one mascara that I can rely on to make my lashes look amazing whatever the occasion (more on that later), however just recently I have been branching out and now have three mascaras in my stash which I think all perform a slightly different job!
The Waterproof – Lancome Hypnose Waterproof (£22)
I needed a waterproof mascara for my holiday back in May and hadn’t been that happy with ones I have tried over the past couple of years, which is when I remembered that I used the Lancome Hypnose Waterproof for my wedding over six years ago. I got married in Thailand, so needed a really reliable one that would not budge in the heat and teary eyed situations, and this was perfect. It is volumising without being clumpy and very lengthening leaving you with pretty fluttery lashes. It literally does not budge either and even after 20 lengths of the swimming pool, there was not a panda eye in sight. The only trouble with waterproof mascaras is the difficult removal, but as I don’t use it on a daily basis I am prepared to put with this!
The Dramatic – Tarte Lights, Camera Flashes ($23)
My most recent mascara purchase since living in the States is the Tarte, Lights, Camera, Flashes which I put in my basket at Sephora after Fleur De Force raved about it so much. This mascara gives some serious volume and makes your lashes huge! It has a two-sided brush that you are meant to rotate for maximum effect, but I find that a bit faffy, so just apply as normal and the effect is just as good. It’s lasts all day without flaking, although because it is so hot and humid here in New York, I did experience a bit of smudging on my upper lid because they were so long. The bottom lashes were fine though, so am putting this down to the heat and saving this for when the temperature drops a little. It is the perfect mascara for a night out when you want to create a dramatic look without having to apply false lashes.
The Staple – Maybelline The Falsies (£7.99)
If I could only choose one mascara forever, Maybelline The Falsies would be it. I have gone through countless tubes of this and cannot be without it. It holds Holy Grail status for me and is simply the best mascara I have ever tried. The curved brush hugs the lashes, making its a dream to apply it. After two coats, your lashes have the most amazing volume and length and the formula never clumps, flakes or smudges. It is a bargain too at £7.99 and is always on some kind of 3 for 2 deal making it my favourite purchase from the drugstore. It is also very buildable making it suitable for both day and night, if you have never tried this, you need to get this in your life!
So there is my current mascara wardrobe. Do you own any of these? What is your favourite mascara?
