Revlon’s newest launch is their Ultra HD Lipstick and Ultra HD Lip Lacquers which are currently making their way into US drugstores. The collection comprises of twelve lipsticks which are all named after flowers and sixteen lip lacquers, named after gemstones. I picked up one of each in complimentary shades to see how I liked the formulation before I over-indulged in any more!
Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Magnolia
Lets start with the lipstick which I have in the shade Magnolia, a beautiful peachy pink colour. It has a very lightweight texture to it which makes it really smooth to apply and feels very hydrating on the lips. However, it does feel as though it slides around your lips when it is on and doesn’t really set in place, meaning it doesn’t really last that long. It has a satin-like finish so is semi-matte with a bit of shine to it meaning that it does not look flat but does not look glossy either, it is somewhere in between. The packaging looks really pretty when new, a silver bullet with a clear plastic case, however, the lipstick does not wind all the way down, making it very easy to catch on the lid and because it is clear it looks quite messy. This lipstick hasn’t really blown me away if I am honest, I love the colour but I have other lipsticks in my collection with a much better formulation.
Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer in Smokey Topaz
The lip lacquer however, really did impress me. I have the nudest shade in the range, Smokey Topaz which is a pinky-brown nude shade. The packaging of this is gorgeous, square in design like the Colorburst Lipglosses, but the lid is silver with a plastic gemstone crystal on the top which just looks so elegant. It has a brush style applicator, which I am not normally a big fan of, but it is short and firm making application fairly precise and even. The formulation is beautifully creamy and has quite a thick, gel-like texture to it making it very opaque on the lips. It also has a gorgeous shine to it, which is not glittery or even shimmery, but just gives your lips an iridescence that makes them super shiny! Even though it is thick, it is not that sticky, a touch tacky perhaps but nothing that bothersome, and because of the creamy formulation, it feels lovely and moisturising to wear.
