Long Haul Skincare Essentials

Longhaul Skincare Essentials: Bioderma Sensibo H2O, Caudalie Beauty Elxir, Avene Hydrating Serum, Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream, Nuxe Reve De Miel

This evening I am flying back to the UK for a week and having done a couple of trips back and forth this year already, I have found that looking after my skin during the flight really makes a difference to how it looks and feels once I have landed. It really is essential for me as I have dehydrated, acne-prone skin that needs a lot of attention at the best of times, so I try to keep this regime going up in the air too. I don’t find this necessary on short 2-3 hour flights really, although I do like to spritz my face with one of these during the journey.

So after drinks and dinner have finished and everyone has settled down a bit, this is when I would do my skincare routine. Firstly I remove all the make-up of my skin using my trusty Bioderma Sensibo H20 on a cotton pad swept all over my face. Of course you could use a face wipe if you preferred for ease, but I know where I am with this little staple of mine! I don’t bother removing my mascara, as I find it all gets a bit messy and I want to look semi-human!

Following this, I liberally spritz my face with the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. The scent of this is so reviving, it is like an instant pick-up for the skin, which I also like to use throughout the flight for an added dose of hydration.

I then apply a hydrating serum like the Avene Hydrating Serum (review here), for an intense bit of hydration, followed by a liberal application of the Origins Drink-Up Intensive Overnight Mask. This goes clear once applied, so you needed worry about looking silly, and it really works wonder of keeping the skin hydrated, my skin literally drinks it up and is vital if you are aiming at getting some sleep on the plane as you won’t be drinking any water during this time, so your skin would suffer without it.

I also make sure, I apply an eye cream as dehydrated skin around the eyes instantly makes you look drained and sleepy, so I like to keep them moisturised. The one I am using at the moment is the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream which has a lovely texture that hydrates, smoothes and repairs and have been loving the results. Finally, I frequently apply the Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm throughout the flight to keep my lips smooth and supple. This is the king of lip balms and for me nothing else compares.

Before I land, I will cleanse my skin using the Bioderma again before applying a little bit of make-up so that I look half decent again. I have honestly noticed great results from this simple routine, my skin doesn’t feel all dry and congested like it has done previously and I can resume normal life rather than worrying about what a state my face is!

I am looking forward to being on home soil again, even if it’s just for a week, I have missed you England!

Come and join me!
