Snow Day Essentials

Today in New York is a Snow Day!! We were all on blizzard alert yesterday and there was much media hype around what was meant to be “the worst New York has ever seen”. We did get a lot of snow overnight, but all the drama was a little unnecessary! However, everyone is off work and school, so today has been declared a snow day and I am definitely not complaining as it is the perfect excuse to snuggle up at home and have some me time (well as much as I can get with a 4 year old son!).

I plan on lighting a candle or two, this Diptyque Jasmin Candle is my newest addition and is just divine. It transports me straight to the Mediterranean, which on a snowy day is just heaven. Tea is going to be drunk by the gallon, alternating between good old British PG Tips and Peppermint. The former I find comforting and cosy and the latter is so refreshing and great for digestion. Whatever the tea though, this monogram mug that my husband bought me for Christmas will be what I am drinking it from! Tea in hand, I will be getting stuck into  Pretty Honest by Sali Hughes, which I have had since Christmas and haven’t had the chance to read yet. It is the perfect choice for any beauty enthusiast and I’m looking forward to digesting some of Sali’s amazing knowledge.

Of course, me time wouldn’t be complete without a nail painting session, especially as my nails feel a little neglected at the moment. I am going to use Maybelline Divine Wine (review here), which is the perfect winter berry shade with a fantastic formula! Finally, I will be making sure I slather on Glamglow Thirstmud, which is the ultimate in hydrating masks and will ensure my skin stays plump and smooth. The freezing cold weather combined with constant indoor heating really plays havoc with my skin, but this mask locks in the moisture and keeps it hydrated.

Here’s to a very self indulgent, chilled out day, I cannot wait!
