I need all the help I can get in the brow department, they are very fair, sparse and uneven in their natural state, so I strive to find the best products I can to make something of them. I do love Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products, they are for me the ultimate and am particularly fond of the DipBrow Pomade and Brow Wiz, both of which do an incredible job of creating shape and filling in.
My most recent discoveries go one step further and actually thicken and increase texture in the brows, making them fuller and more life like. The first will probably need no introduction as it was majorly hyped last year, it is the Benefit Gimme Brow ($22/£17.50). This is a volumizing gel that contains fibers, which on application adhere to the skin and hair on the brow, creating fullness, texture and actually makes your brows look as though they are bushier than they really are, which for my brows is nothing short of miraculous! I have the light/medium shade which is just perfect for my fair brows, it is fairly ashy in color so looks very natural and blends in well.
A more affordable option is the L’Oreal Brow Artist Plumper (£5.99), which I picked up at the airport on my quick trip to the UK at the end of last year. It has pretty much exactly the same effect on the brow as the Gimme Brow giving a good amount of volume and texture, there are just a couple of slight differences that slightly lets it down for me. The first being the color, I have the Blonde shade in this (which is the lightest they do), but find the shade quite golden and more warm than the Gimme Brow so do not find it as natural looking. That said, when applied on top of Ananstasia Brow Wiz (which I do before using both of these to create the shape), you can’t actually notice too much, so I can get away with wearing it, I just prefer the more grey, ashy tones of the Gimme Brow. The other noticeable difference with the L’oreal is the size of the brush, it is probably double in size of the Benefit offering, which can be a touch messy on application.
One last, obvious difference between the two is the amount of product you get for the price. With Benefit you get 3g/0.1oz of product, I can’t find the amount of product you get with L’oreal, but the tube looks about three times as big, for one third of the price so definitely so much better value.
Both are great products which have really made a difference to my brows, but for me personally on the shade of my brows, I would buy the Benefit over the L’Oreal. I do however hink the L’Oreal is a great drugstore alternative and perfect if you are on more of a budget. I have not tried the darker shades in both of these products, so cannot comment on the shades for brunettes, but it may we worth testing out before you buy as you could save yourself some pennies!
Have you tried either of these?
