Benefit Roller Lash ($24/£19.50) is the company’s latest launch for Spring, and is a super-curling mascara that claims to hold for up to 12 hours! I was not the biggest fan of their best selling mascara, They’re Real, even though it made my lashes look incredible, it continuously smudged on my upper lid and was a nightmare to remove. I was therefore excited to see how this differed.
The unique selling point of Roller Lash is the Hook ‘n’ Roll Brush, a patent-pending hook design that catches, lifts and curls the lashes. I love the curved brush (it reminds me of my favorite Maybelline The Falsies) which really does live up to its claims! It is easy to get right into the root of the lash and as your coat the lash, you can actually see a visible lift. Now as someone with naturally curly lashes, I rarely curl them, but I love the lift that eyelash curlers gives your eyes and the effect of this mascara is just like that.
You can achieve a very wide-eyed look with this mascara, which I am sure anyone with straight lashes will love as also holds a curl! It is very lengthening and is brilliant at separating, with not a clump it sight. It is not extremely volumising, but I don’t really mind that too much as my lashes look amazing with this. The effect lasted all day too without any flaking or smudging I am pleased to report. I even wore this to my spinning class, which gets a bit hot and sweaty and this stayed in place, so even though it doesn’t claim to be waterproof, it definitely melt-proof!
As it lasted so well I was dreading the removal, I just hate mascara that is tough to remove, but with The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, this was a delight to remove without tugging at my lashes.
This is due for release on Feb 27th in the US, but VIB/VIB Rouge members can get it now at Sephora. Sephora are also offering a free sample size (the same as in this review) with any $25 purchase, enter ROLLERLASH at checkout to get yours while stocks last! UK folks will be able to get this on March 1st, although I believe there is a free sample on covers of Elle Magazine this month! Definitely worth getting your hands on!
