This past month, I have been really favoring a glossy pink lip, I think is mainly due to an obsession I have about a certain lipliner. The NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Nude Pink, is just the prettiest pink liner which makes my lips looks bright and perky whilst still looking fairly natural. The creamy formula is comparable to Mac, and is therefore easy to apply to the whole lip if that is your thing, without feeling dry or taught. Lighter in tone than my other love, the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillowtalk, this affordable liner seems to compliment a stash of pink glosses that I have in my collection. My most favorable at the moment on rotation are the Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Magic, YSL Gloss Veloupte in 202 Rose Jersey and Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Afternoon Tea.
The Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Magic is one that came in a gift set and is just the perfect baby pink gloss. It is semi-opaque, which is just the perfect formula for me and has the most amazing vanilla scent to it, which makes you want to keep applying! The nicest thing about this gloss though is how hydrating it is, my lips feel really moisturized when wearing this gloss, almost as though I have a balm on which I really appreciate at the moment during these freezing temperatures we are experiencing in New York at the moment! It is actually infused with Vitamin E, jojoba seed oil and flower extract which my lips seem to love! Disappointingly, I cannot find this shade available at the moment, however I highly recommend the formula, which is available in 10 other shades.
My more luxury pick is the YSL Gloss Veloupte in 202 Rose Jersey and is actually extremely similar in color to the Tarte one. Thinner in texture, it glides onto the lips effortlessly with its ergonomic applicator that literally hugs the lips and leaves a beautiful pale pink, semi opaque gloss that sits comfortably on the lips. To me it tastes like watermelon which is pleasant enough, but it is the luxe packaging that has me. Elegant and chic, you would be only too proud to pull this gorgeous gloss out of your bag!
Finally, I have been loving the Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Afternoon Tea. Tanya’s lip glosses are my my favorite drugstore lip gloss brand (along with NYX Butter Gloss) and they definitely put some of the higher end brands to shame. This is the most opaque of the group, and although slightly thicker than the rest, it stays put for hours and tastes of strawberry milkshake!
All glosses go perfectly with the NYX Nude Pink Lip Liner, which has now become a firm favorite in my make up bag. I shall be picking up some more shades of this very soon as they are a fraction of the price of Mac’s at only $3.50 and are definitely very comparable.
