Review | Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation

If you haven’t already heard, Nars has released a new foundation, the All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation ($48/£32), which, from the blurb sounded just what I was looking for, “an oil-free foundation that delivers full, natural coverage with just one drop, for lightweight, 16 hour wear”. As soon as it was released, I ordered immediately in the shade Punjab, knowing that it would be a good match for my current skin tone as this is the shade I wear in Nars Sheer Glow.

It is quite a hefty but beautiful glass bottle, and even though it contains the same 30ml/1oz as the Sheer Glow, the All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation bottle is almost double the size. It is probably not the best for travel, but on my dressing table it looks lovely, plus it comes with a pump making it easy to dispense. I mean, how could it not? The lack of pump is the one thing everyone moans about with the Sheer Glow Foundation, so this is a welcome addition.

Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation in Punjab Review

The All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation itself is incredible, it is so lightweight that it feels as though you have nothing on your skin, yet gives amazing coverage. It is medium to full coverage which does a great job at concealing redness, minor blemishes, and creating an even skin tone, whilst still managing to look natural. I still need to use concealer on larger blemishes, but the rest of my complexion looks pretty flawless with this foundation. Nars says that one pump is sufficient to cover your whole face, but personally I like to use two and buff it into my skin using the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush (review here), which is effortless. Once buffed in, it sets in seconds, ensuring that it does not budge, streak or slide around the face, now for oily skinned girls is an absolute lifesaver! Initially the texture took some warming too as it is much thinner than Sheer Glow and more fluid like, I felt that I missed a creamier foundation! However, after a few days I quickly got used to the thinner formula and just love how light and weightless it feels on my skin, it is so comfortable to wear.

Comparison between Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation in Punjab (Top) and Nars Sheer Glow in Punjab (Bottom)

I think the standout quality of the All Day Weightless Lumionous Foundation is its longevity, it seriously lasts all day long! I have a very oily T-zone especially on my nose which usually needs much touching up throughout the day. With this, I hardly feel the need to powder, I think it was only around the six hour mark where I saw a bit of shine on my nose, but this was minimal and my make-up looked almost as fresh as when I had applied it, seriously impressive!

Its oil-free, unscented formula has not caused any irritations or breakouts on my acne-prone skin, which is probably due to the exclusion of SPF. Some chemical SPF’s can break me out, so I actually prefer foundations without it and this also means that it can be worn both day and night without the fear of flashback in photos!

I am so impressed with the Nars All Day Weightless Luminous Foundation, it is everything I have ever really wanted in a foundation and ticks all the boxes for me. I would just say that I have combination to oily skin, so I can’t say how it would work on drier skins, but it would definitely suit anyone with normal to oily skin.

This is available in 20 shades, so most skin tones should be able to find a match. Punjab was the perfect shade for my winter NC30 skin tone and I shall definitely be purchasing a darker shade for the summer months as think it will be the perfect choice in the heat!

Available from Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Space NK and Selfridges.
