Over the past couple of months I have had a little rejig of my skincare routine, which I am pleased to report has been really working well. A new product that I have been using is the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream as my morning moisturizer (I rarely use a moisturizer at night in preference for face oils). Over the harsh winter that we experienced here in New York, my combination skin was feeling so dry and dehydrated even after I had applied my moisturizer. I was therefore on the hunt for a product that would really hydrate my skin and not break out my sensitive, acne-prone skin. Skincare guru, Caroline Hirons put this cream in her ‘hall of fame‘ where she highly recommended it for redness, sensitivity, acne or combination skin, all of which I have so decided I needed it in my life! I find moisturizers the hardest skincare product to buy because of my combo skin so was glad of Carolines advice.
The special thing about Goat Milk (and other milks incidentally!) is that it contains Lactic Acid, an ingredient which gently exfoliates the skins whilst maintaining the pH balance of the skin. In addition, this moisturizer is also packed with natural ingredients such as aloe, jojoba and avocado to hydrate and condition the skin and includes anti-bacterial ingredients like witch hazel and rosemary, which are perfect for acne-prone skins such as mine. No sign of any Shea Butter thankfully, which I find particularly problematic in skincare!
The packaging is quite unique, as you can see from the picture above, it is a pump-action pot that dispenses enough product to moisturize your whole face and neck and also keeps the product sterile, which I know would please a lot of people who hate dipping their fingers in creams. The only downside to this is that you can’t see when you are about to run out!
It is a very lightweight, non-greasy cream, that feels very soothing and absorbs into the skin instantly making it a great base for make up. Like a lot of skincare products, I didn’t really notice what a great job it was doing for a while as my face just felt normal, smooth and comfortable again, and then I thought actually this stuff is rather good! This little pot of Goat Milk Cream has really sorted my parched Winter skin out, it now feels beautifully hydrated (which was my biggest struggle over the winter months), it has given me a more even skin tone as it has reduced redness and my breakouts have definitely reduced which is amazing. I have been using it in conjunction with some other new skincare, but this has been the only new product in my morning skincare routine, suffice to say that it has definitely worked wonders.
At $65 a pot, it is not cheap, but I honestly feel that when you find a product that works for you and improves your skin, it is worth every penny (or dollar in this case!), and actually saves on the continuous trial and error of new products! FYI, there is no Goat smell either incase you were wondering!
