NYC | Bite Beauty Lip Lab, Soho

Last week I ticked off something that was on my ‘to-do’ list since living in New York. I ventured into Manhattan to the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Soho to create my own lipstick which was a great experience, seeing a lipstick being made in front of your very eyes was amazing! You can literally create any color you imagined, so if you have been longing for your own unique lipstick, or perhaps want to match an old discontinued favorite, then this is the place to head to if you are in NYC.

I sat down at the counter where I was given some of the Bite Beauty Whipped Cherry Lip Scrub to exfoliate my lips, followed by the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask to moisturize and prep my lips. I was then asked what formula of lipstick I wanted, I went for the Luminous Creme, as I had previously tried the Bite Beauty Lipstick Duo and loved how creamy and smooth it was so knew this was the formula I wanted of my own lipstick!

Then it was time to make the color! I took an old discontinued Chanel Rouge Coco Shine lipstick that I loved the color of but because it was a sheer formula, when my ‘lipstick maker’ matched up the color, it was a little pinker that I imagined so we started again. I said I wanted it a little peachier than the previous mix and described my love for peachy pink nudes! She mixed a couple of pigments together and got me to apply it to my lips. This time it was spot on, peachy perfection!

I then had to decide what flavor I wanted it to be, and was given a few options to smell (see above photo), but went with ‘Citrus Mango’ as it smelt so fruity and fresh and I knew applying this would be a pleasure!

The mixture of the color pigments, luminous creme formula and citrus mango scent, were then placed it a small pot and placed in a speed mixer, when it was mixed at high speed!

This mixture was then poured into a mould and frozen on this sheet for about five minutes. This mould was then opened up, set into the base on the lipstick case and seconds later my lipstick was finished! I was able to choose for four lid designs and my lipstick was then placed in its box and I was good to go! The total experience only took about 30 minutes and cost $38 which is more than I would usually pay for a lipstick, but for the experience of making the exact shade you want was totally worth it!

Here is the finished lipstick which as you can see is right up my street, I love it!

Definitely worth visit if you live in, or are visiting NYC, it is a beauty addicts heaven!
