The Drugstore Base

The Drugstore Base | L'Oreal True Match Foundation, Maybelline Master Conceal, Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder

I’ve got to be honest, most of the time I favor high end brands for my foundation, concealer and powder, with my sensitive and irritable skin, I have to be careful with some cheaper ingredients. However, the other day I did my make up and loved the fresh and dewy base that I put together and without knowing, realized that it was actually all drugstore! I thought I would share these gems with you so you can see what my top budget base buys are.

L’Oreal True Match Foundation is a favorite amongst many a beauty blogger, but for good reason. This lightweight base provides a medium coverage so it is perfect all year round. It is oil-free and gives a semi-matte finish, that still allows a radiant glow to the skin, keeping it looking fresh. It is easy to blend either with your fingers or a buffing brush and lasts all day long with only minimal touch-ups. The plus for me is that it also contains SPF, which can often break me out in foundations, but the active ingredient in this is titanium dioxide which my skin prefers. Available both in the US (without pump as pictured) and in the UK (with pump). I have a full review of this here

Maybelline Master Conceal is a pretty recent addition to my make up bag, but I have fallen head over heels in love with it. It is the perfect consistency for the whole face, it is light enough for under the eyes without settling into fine lines but still covering dark circles and it is pigmented enough to conceal any blemishes. It blends really nicely and lasts all day long and is a great dupe for the Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer. I am aware it is not yet available in the UK, but definitely now to check out when it launches. I have a full review and comparison to the MUFE Full Cover Concealer here

Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder is the perfect finishing powder to set this base. It is lightweight so doesn’t make your skin look flat, but adds a hint of coverage whilst minimizing any shine. The packaging is very slimline too so a great one for the handbag. Bourjois is not widely available in the US, but fear not you can stock up on ASOS! Hurrah!
