Having a hydrating serum in my skincare routine is absolutely essential for me. I have combination to oily skin which is also very dehydrated, so I need a serum to hydrate my skin to prevent dry patches, flakiness, redness and acne, all of which can occur on my skin when it is not kept completely hydrated. I had been previously using the Avene Hydrating Serum which I loved, but it is not easily available in the US, so was in the market for a new serum.
I remember Sali Hughes talking about the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum in one of her YouTube videos a while ago as one of her favorite serums for her dehydrated skin, and this just stuck in my mind so I decided to take the recommendation and try it out for myself. It is very affordable at $36/£17 compared to some higher end serums that I had been eyeing up and I love that it is available from CVS which is walking distance from my apartment!
I predominantly use this in the morning, layered between a hydrating facial mist and moisturizer. One pump of this lightweight serum is ample to cover your whole face, which is easily absorbed by the skin. This one step in my morning skincare routine is to me the most vital, as it ensures that my skin is hydrated all day long, giving me that plump skin without the tell tale signs of dehydration. By this I mean the fines lines that look more apparent as the day wears on because you don’t have enough water in your skin and the way that you make up gets patchy because you skin is trying to draw the moisture from it. I also get a lot of redness on my nose if it not properly hydrated which turns flaky and is not the prettiest of sights.
The Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum does a fantastic job of preventing all the above. My skin feels smooth, plump and comfortable ensuring the make up I apply on top stays looking its best all day long. If you have dehydrated skin this is a great, affordable serum that you should definitely put to the top of your wish list!
