Clinique Cheek Pops launched last year in four shades which I unfortunately never got around to trying. However, Spring 2015 sees the launch of eight brand new shades to the line so after all the rave reviews I have read, I thought I would try one out. The cute daisy design of the blush is just perfect for Spring and after much deliberation, I decided on Rosy Pop. Rosy Pop is a medium toned pink blush that is quite neutral so would be a great choice for all skin tones as it is neither too cool or too warm. I do not normally gravitate towards pink blushes, as I usually prefer peach and coral tones, but I have to say that I have been loving this shade.
As I am quite tanned still from my holiday, and have been amping up my tan with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer, the contrast of this vibrant pink gives the cheeks a lovely flush of color which really works well with a tan to give the face a lovely healthy glow. I am quite surprised how much I have been enjoying wearing a pink blush, but I think because it is not too warm it doesn’t make the cheeks look ruddy at all, instead keeps them looking fresh and youthful.
The formula of the Clinique Cheek Pops is quite unique in the fact that although it is a powder blush, it seems virtually powderless to the touch and on application. It is smooth and soft and creates no ‘dust’, making it very easy to blend giving a natural finish. Although it is very pigmented and appears bright when swatched, it actually makes for quite a buildable blush as it is not too intense when applied to the cheeks. I wouldn’t say that it was a sheer blush, but it is a great blush to be able to sheer out for a more natural look, or build up if you wanted a more intense color!
If you are looking for a new blush this Spring, I would highly recommend the Clinique Cheek Pops, I have my eye on Melon Pop next, a beautiful peach toned blush which is right up my street! Available from Sephora ($21) in the US or Debenhams (£16.50) in the UK (although I am not sure when the new shades are launching there).
