August has been an extremely eventful month which has just flown by. I have been to California for a family holiday which was amazing (read about my travel makeup bag here) and then I have just had my friends from the UK come to visit for a week which was so much fun! I was planning on bringing you a pregnancy update this weekend, but have just not had the time, so that will be next weekend now, but all is going well so far. I am looking forward to getting back to normality next week and cannot wait for Autumn, I am so over the hot, sweaty days here in New York, which are (unfortunately) actually getting hotter next week, urgh! I am desperate to wear jeans and jumpers again, but that won’t stop me bringing out the autumnal makeup as soon as September hits! For now though, these are all the products that I have been loving throughout August.
Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom
Glossier’s do-it-all balm has been released in a coconut scent this summer, which sounded too irresistible not to pick up. I bought it mainly as a travel-friendly lip balm that I could take away with me as my favorite Nuxe Reve De Miel is a bit bulky for travel, so thought I would try something new. As a lip balm it is amazing as it really hydrates the lips leaving them smooth and soft without any sticky residue. It is also amazing on any other dry areas such as cuticles, knees, elbows and even saved my husbands sunburnt nose. It smells and tastes great too, to me it is more like popcorn than coconut, but fabulous all the same!
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
This powder has got some amazing reviews, so I bought the handy travel size to test it out. It is very fine and lightweight, with no trace of color on the skin so would suit all skin tones. It does a fabulous job of setting my makeup without looking cakey, and prolongs the wear time of my foundation. Applied with my Bobbi Brown Sheer Powder Brush, it softens the look of the skin without being apparent on the skin.
By Terry Ombre Blackstar in Misty Rock
After wanting this for an eternity, I finally made the purchase and have been loving it ever since. It swipes easily across the lid and can be blended effortlessly for a simple look. I love the blend of bronze, taupe and purple tones making it extremely versatile for different seasons. It lasts all day long too making it especially good for the recent hot weather. Clinique Chubby Mascara in Bodacious Black Honey
I never thought I would see the day when I didn’t wear black mascara, but the aubergine/burgundy tones of this lash plumping mascara has got me so excited. From a distance it appears black, but has a beautiful warmth that really brings out the green in my eyes and will be a great accompaniment to the richer tones of Autumn. The formula itself gives great volume and length and I would definitely recommend trying this one out as it is limited edition. See my my review here.
Nude Progenius Omega Treatment Rescue Oil
This new face oil from Nude is amazing, I managed to get hold of two sample sizes from Sephora which I have now been using for over a month and have really noticed the changes in my skin. For a face oil it is incredibly lightweight so it is immediately absorbed by the skin and doesn’t feel at all great or sticky. In the morning my skin feels completely renewed, the tone is more even, has less redness and is so smooth. I am a great believer in the power of Omegas for the skin, so shall 100% be buying the full size, it is the best skincare product I have tried this year!
Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow
This has been my go-to summer primer, which I have been wearing daily to give me a gorgeous glow. It contains soft-focus particles to perfect the skin by blurring lines and adding luminosity. It is lovely and hydrating and adds a beautiful radiance to the skin, so is great for days when your skin is feeling a little lack-lustre.
