The Original Beauty Blender

The Original Beauty Blender

I never thought I would use a makeup sponge again after using those triangular sponges during my teenage years that used to drink up foundation, wasting product and harboring germs. I saw so many people raving about the Beauty Blender, but totally dismissed their views in favor of using a buffing brush which I was more than happy with.

Then I binged watched makeup artist, Monika Blunder’s YouTube tutorials, where she often uses the Beauty Blender to either apply foundation or blend it into the skin after application. She also uses it a lot to blend concealer and I loved the way it made the skin look flawless. I was sold, and into my basket it went!

The Original Beauty Blender

The Original Beauty Blender ($20) is a latex-free, edgeless sponge that is best used damp to apply foundation, concealer, primer and even cream blush. The unique foam material that it is made from features an open-cell structure that fills with small amounts of water when wet. This allows the sponge to be full, so that the makeup you apply with it sits on top of the sponge rather than being absorbed by it, clever stuff!

I have been using the Beauty Blender a lot of the last few weeks and have become totally obsessed, it  blends my foundation beautifully, leaving it streak-free (something that you can’t always get with brushes!) and it just makes your makeup look seamless and flawless. I have also found that I am not using nearly as much concealer on my face when using this. Speaking of concealer, the pointed tip of the Beauty Blender is perfect for applying my favorite Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer under my eyes, it does an amazing job of blending in the product, without any creasing or settling into fine lines. No matter if you use this as an actual applicator to apply foundation or to just to blend after application, this magic sponge will change the way your makeup looks for the better. I also find bouncing the sponge around my face funnily therapeutic!

Who ever thought a simple sponge could be so effective? If you are on the fence about the Beauty Blender like I was, I would definitely recommend you try it, I am sure you will become just as obsessed as me!
