A foundation that I have been loving lately is the Burberry Sheer Luminous Fluid Foundation. I bought this in shade Trench No. 5.0 back in March (see Burberry Beauty haul) when I was probably at my palest, I then went on holiday and then summer happened, so haven’t really been able to wear this until more recently. It is not a foundation that I have ever really read about on blogs so thought it would be good to share my thoughts.
The name ‘sheer’ foundation is a bit misleading to be honest as it is definitely more of a medium coverage foundation, with quite a thick consistency when pumped out. I think the term sheer refers to the weightless feel it has on the skin, as it doesn’t really feel like you have much on the skin, but it definitely covers well. It has a beautiful texture to it and my preferred way of applying this is to buff it into the skin with a buffing brush and then blend it into the skin with a Beauty Blender for a more perfected look.
It covers any redness and small imperfections very well indeed and gives the skin a perfected yet natural look leaving a semi-matte finish to the skin, but one that looks quite luminous and radiant. This is quite unique in a foundation as ones that have matte or slightly matte finish to them can leave the skin looking a little flat, but this offers the best of both worlds but giving the luminosity without being overly dewy, which looks great on my skin type. I have combination skin that has quite an oily t-zone, but with drier cheeks. I find that I do need to touch up my nose area after a few hours as it tends to look a little shiny, but apart from that, this foundation really lasts all day on the remainder of my face. I therefore would say that it wouldn’t be suitable for super oily skin types but if you have combination, normal or slightly drier skin, this would be a great foundation for you. It is also worth mentioning that this foundation doesn’t brake me out at all, which on my super reactive skin is a blessing indeed.
The packaging is very sleek and is similar to all Burberry base products with a square bottle and useful pump, covered with a chrome finished plastic lid embossed with the Burberry check which is synonymous with the brand. It is quite bulky, so probably not the best for your travels, but does looks very chic and elegant on your dressing table.
Trench No. 5 is a great shade match for my winter skin and is comparable to Mac NC25-30, which is quite yellow based and warm in tone. It is a beautiful foundation for my less oily winter skin, giving me the radiance I crave whilst still giving a gorgeous velvety finish to the skin.
