I have to admit, I rarely shop in Lush as I am much more a shower than a bath person. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good old soak now and again, but when I do, I prefer to use more aromatic, spa like products than a fizzing bath bomb, maybe I am getting too old for novelties like this, I dunno! However, while I was shopping last week, I could not resist a peak in the shop to smell all their goodies and see what they had available for Christmas. While I easily could have spent a small fortune on festive bath bombs (they are definitely more pricey in the US), I was more enticed by The Comforter, which is one of their best-loved bubble bars that has now launched as a shower cream.
The Comforter Shower Cream smells absolutely incredible, I know scents are subjective and not everyone likes the same, but for me this is heaven in a bottle. It is like a million blackcurrants squashed inside a bottle and really reminds me of those blackcurrant and licorice sweets you used to get as a kid. It is a blend of cassis absolute, bergamot and cypress essential oils, so although it smells very fruity, I don’t find it overly sickly. As the name would suggest it is extremely comforting indeed, so a perfect scent for the colder winter months.
The shower cream itself is actually not that creamy in texture and has more of a liquid texture, which initially i thought a bit odd. Rubbed into the skin alone it doesn’t really produce much lather, but when used with a shower pouf it does actually create a beautiful lather without having to use a great deal of product, so I am hoping that this bottle will last a long time because of this. I found it to be lovely and moisturizing on the skin and I loved that it did not irritate or strip my skin in any way.
This is one of the nicest shower products I have used in a long time, and while I think it is fairly pricey for a shower gel ($18.95 for 8.4 fl.oz/250ml), it is definitely worth the price especially on these grey winter mornings – how could this vibrant purple cream not perk you up?
