Starting My Makeup Geek Collection

Makeup Geek Matte Eyeshadows

I know I am very late to the party with Makeup Geek, but with already so many eyeshadows in my collection, did I really need more? Well, yes is the answer and I can’t believe I didn’t jump on the bandwagon sooner as these shadows really are quite something! They are everything you want in a shadow, pigmented, buttery, blendable and affordable, so now I want basically every shade!

I thought I would start my collection with some matte shadows as that is what I have been enjoying wearing recently.  I got four of their classic, warm-toned shades that have been talked about a lot, so I felt they would be good ones to start with. These are Peaches and Cream (light peach/beige), Creme Brûlée (soft medium sand), Frappe (medium maple brown), Cocoa Bear (reddish brown). In addition, they have also just launched some new shades, so I thought I would try Wild West, (a rich rose brown) and Tuscan Sun, (a medium salmon pink).

These are all pretty warm, neutral shades, but this is what I love to wear and I have been seriously loving them all. Creme Brûlée and Frappe are both such great crease colors as they are both medium-toned, neutral shades that look great for the transition. Peaches and Cream is perfect for light-medium  skin tones all across the lid as well as under the brow bone and Cocoa Bear has gorgeous red undertones to it that really makes my green eyes pop. I think Wild West is absolutely beautiful, it is dark enough to give extra definition but light enough to be able to wear day-to day. It’s rosy tone, also compliments my eye color so well! Tuscan Sun is a very unique shade in my collection and is reminiscent of the warm pinky tones you get from sunset, I can’t wait to play with this more!

I am so happy with my initial shade selection, but I have been bitten by the Makeup Geek bug now, and need to add to my collection. I want to add some more matte shades and also try a few of the shimmery and foiled shadows. In The Spotlight has definitely got to be purchased as it is apparently similar to Mac All That Glitters which is my most used eyeshadow of all time, so I will be interested to see how it compares?

Have you tried Makeup Geek eyeshadows? I would love to hear your recommendations!
