The Victoria Beckham collaboration with Estée Lauder has really taken the world by storm this past week and there has been such a buzz about it in the beauty community. So much so, that I needed to get in on the action, so I took myself (and my daughter) into Manhattan to Bergdorf Goodman, where it was launched on Tuesday. I had an idea of what I wanted to get, but I thought it wise to swatch the products for myself before I made an investment.
The collection is extremely sleek and elegant, with products housed in chic black and gold packaging which looks very luxurious and screams VB! It comprises of face, eye and lip products that all work in harmony to create different looks. Think sweaty-sexy skin, nude lips, fiercely lined eyes and liquid metals, the vibe is sexy and cool with a bit of rawness and edge!
After trying the collection, I wasn’t really enamored with the eye products, they seemed to be either very shimmery or not to my taste shade wise. The bronzer looked lovely but I have already got too many that need using up and I couldn’t really justify the $98 they wanted for the Morning Aura Illuminating Creme, even though it did look beautiful. There were two standout products for me though that I just had to get, these were the Highlighter in Modern Mercury and the Lipstick in Brazilian Nude.
The Victoria Beckham Estee Lauder Highlighter in Modern Mercury is probably the most beautiful highlighter I have ever layed eyes on, it is absolutely stunning. It was a previously limited edition highlighter of Estée Lauder which was a favorite of Victorias, so she has brought it back as part of this collection. It is rose gold in color and has an iridescence that looks so beautiful on the skin. I believe it has the Estée Lauder gelée formula which is so smooth to apply and literally glides onto the skin. It is not powdery or glittery but has a sophisticated shimmer that makes the cheekbones pop in a very effortless way.
I am totally obsessed with this highlighter, not only is the product amazing but the packaging is quite something. It has similarities to the Tom Ford packaging, but this feels heavier and more sturdy and the gold clasp has a real click to it upon closure which is so satisfying. This seems to be sold out already but fingers crossed it gets restocked, it is definitely worth the investment!
What would a Victoria Beckham collection be without a nude lip? Like Victoria, I love a nude lipstick and it seems to be the product I always buy in new collections because too be honest you can never have too many! The Victoria Beckham Estée Lauder Lipstick in Brazilian Nude does not disappoint, it has a gorgeous creamy formula that feels very moisturizing on the lips. It is quite a deep shade of nude that is richly pigmented but doesn’t look too opaque. For me, it is a lipstick that I find very easy-to-wear, goes with anything, and one I can apply without a mirror. The finish is very natural looking, yet polished. It too has matching black and gold packaging with VB monogrammed on the lid as an extra touch!
I am so pleased with my picks from this collection, they are both so beautiful and are products that I will definitely get a lot of use out of. I am really hoping she expands on this collection in the future as would love to see more!
