October is probably my most favorite month of the year, well in New York at least! The weather is finally cool enough to wear jeans and a jacket and leaves on the trees are so beautiful, I take so much pleasure in just staring out of my window looking at all the gorgeous colors. The autumnal weather totally inspires my makeup choices too, bringing in warmer, richer tones and my favorite products this month are definitely very apt for this time of year.
Lets start with the most obvious choice and that is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario, which literally has Fall written all over it. This eyeshadow palette definitely deserves all the hype for its gorgeous warm toned shades create the most stunning looks. The shadows are intensely pigmented and are so beautiful to apply and blend, there is is no wonder that this palette has nearly sold out everywhere. I have a full review of it here, if you would like to see swatches etc., but please don’t hold me responsible for any purchases you will inevitably make after reading it!
Another product that I have recently reviewed is the Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation, a full coverage, long-lasting offering that is oil-free and has a matte finish. This one is definitely for the more oily/combination skinned folk as it does tend to cling to dry patches, but if you always find that your foundation has slipped down your face by lunch time, this one is for you! It also has the coolest packaging to boot!
The next product has literally been a godsend this month, as a mother of a teething baby, I have had relatively little sleep and the dark circles seem to be getting worse by the day! The IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Concealer is the absolute bomb for getting rid of any darkness, plus it brightens too. It is quite a thick, pigmented cream so you only need the smallest amount, but blended with a beauty blender it is like a magic wand for your under eyes. I cannot rate this highly enough!
Now the colder temperatures are upon us, I have been making sure to look after my hair by applying hair oil before every blow dry. As someone who uses a hairdryer frequently, I like to ensure that my ends are kept conditioned to prevent split ends and to help achieve a smoother look. The Ouai Hair Oil is a beautiful, lightweight oil that nourishes my ends without weighing my fine hair down and has the most addictive smell, I love it!
Finally, my skin has been very unpredictable this past month with the change of temperature, central heating and lack of sleep all having a major effect, resulting in more breakouts that I would like. I have been using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% as a nightly treatment after cleansing and toning and it has been really helping to reduce the congestion and inflammation in my skin. I have been really enjoying The Ordinary products recently, I love that they provide effective skincare at absolute ridiculously cheap prices. There are totally no frills with this range but this serum is under $6, so who can argue with that?
