I haven’t done a foundation review in a while, simply because nothing has really grabbed my attention as I became a bit obsessed with the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream (review) which I have pretty much worn solidly from April to September! But ladies and gents, we have a new contender, the Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Longwear Liquid Foundation has really impressed me. If you are looking for a full coverage foundation that stays perfect all day or night long, then keep reading!
I am extremely picky when it comes to foundation, and only buy into it if I know it is one that I can see myself finishing as I really hate having to throw out foundation which has expired before I get to finish it. I try to get samples of anything that I am interested in (Sephora is amazing for this!), and can usually tell from a few days wear if it is something that is going to suit my skin. I never even try foundations that contain chemical SPFs now as I know my skin can’t tolerate them, and I try and stay away from anything too dewy which I know will slide straight off my shiny t-zone. Those issues aside, I am open to anything else pretty much.
The new Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation really appealed to me the first time I saw it, it is full coverage, long wearing, oil-free, has a matte finish, is waterproof and is free from chemical sunscreens so I knew it wouldn’t break me out! After trying a sample from Sephora, I was hooked as this foundation gave me the most flawless, perfected skin and stayed put all day long!
The Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation is ultra pigmented, one pump of this is more than adequate to cover your entire face and a little definitely goes a long way! My preferred way of applying this is to buff it in with buffing brush like the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush and then to take a damp Beauty Blender to blend it out creating the most flawless matte finish! If you are an oily/combination skinned girl like me, you will appreciate the matte quality to this foundation, which actually does stay matte for hours, I can honestly wear it for most of the day without the need to powder. A lot of foundations that start off as being matte still tend to let shine through after a few hours, but this is honestly brilliant at keeping that shine at bay. Of course I haven’t tried this through the summer months yet, but I am hoping this will perform just as well then too. Even though it is a full coverage, matte foundation, it feels lightweight on the skin and doesn’t look heavy at all. I will say though that if you have any dry patches, this will cling to them, so ensure you moisturize well and possibly use a hydrating primer. I think if you have dry skin, this may be a foundation that you want to avoid and I think it is more suited to those with oily or combination skins.
There are an impressive 24 shades available in the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation, so hopefully you should be able to find a good match. I have this in shade 4.0 which has yellow undertones and for reference is similar to a Mac NC30 or Nars Punjab.
I love this foundation so much, I think it is a great option for nights out when you want perfected skin that stays in place all night long, but equally for long days at work when you don’t get much time for touchups. The sleek, gunmetal packaging makes this foundation look edgy and cool and the addition of a pump never goes amiss in my eyes!
The Urban Decay All Nighter Liquid Foundation is available from Sephora, Ulta and Nordstrom ($40).
