Finally! I have got my hands on one of my most lusted after products ever. It has been sitting on my wishlist for ages so decided to treat myself whilst in duty free at the airport, and I’m in love! The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel (bit of a confusing mouthful!) is a cream bronzer or as the packaging states, a bronzing make-up base. I have watched Lisa Eldridge use it here and she uses it very lightly all over the face to subtly bronze up pale skin. As I have a medium skin tone and a bit of a tan at present, I don’t really need to do this, so prefer to use it as a contour in the hollows of my cheeks or to add a sun kissed effect on the points of the face which the sun would naturally ‘kiss’, so the cheekbones, temples and across the nose. To apply it I use the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush as it is synthetic so ideal for applying cream products. It is also the perfect size and density to apply and blend in the bronzer creating a very natural finish.
The product itself is a gel-cream formula, which does look quite dark in the pot, but once applied it seamlessly blends into the skin leaving a gorgeous glow which is neither completely matte or dewy, it somehow sits somewhere in between…you will have to try it to see what I mean! It is not sticky at all, but I like to set it with a little powder bronzer, like Nars Laguna, to keep it in place. I have used it alone which looks equally as nice, but this is just personal preference as I like the bronzed look.
The packaging is beautiful as with all Chanel products and looks lovely on your dressing table. The pot itself is HUGE, you get 30g of product which when you compare it to a cream bronzer it is over 5 times the amount! So even if you think the price point of £31 (I got it slightly cheaper from duty free) is a bit steep, the sales assistant told me it would probably last about 3 years!! There is nothing else quite like it on the market, although Bourjois are due to release a bronzing primer in July which could be comparable, so looking forward to trying that!
For a lover of bronzers, it is an absolute essential and I am so happy to finally have this in my collection.
Have you tried this? What is your favourite bronzer?
