I have learnt that cleansing is one of the most important steps in your skincare routine. Gone are the days of face wipes and stripping cleansers, these days it is about the double cleanse with gentle, yet effective cleansing products.
At night when it comes to removing my make up, I like to use a Micellar water. My current and repurchased pick is is Bioderma Sensibo H2O, which has become a cult product with make-up artists and beauty enthusiasts alike. This alcohol-free cleansing water uses micelles to remove impurities in the skin without stripping it. I use this as the first step of my evening cleansing routine to remove all my face and eye make-up. This is targeted at people with sensitive skin who experience skin irritations and redness so does not sting or dry out the skin. I simply pour onto a large cotton pad and wipe away the day’s grime! It is extremely effective at make-up removal but only use it as a pre-cleanse as prefer to use something more nourishing as my second cleanse. There are many Micellar waters on the market to suit different budgets, another excellent one is the L’Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Micellar Solution which I have reviewed here.
My current evening cleanser is the Pai Camelia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser which I discovered after purchasing their Skincare Sampler Kit. This cream cleanser, which incidently smells divine, is a dream to use. One or two pumps of this massaged into the skin and removed with a hot flannel leaves the skin incredibly soft and smooth. This is due to Omega 3 and vitamins A, B and E, which are there to replenish the skin’s moisture barrier. It is suitable for all skin types and gently cleanses the skin, hydrating it in the process, so the skin doesn’t feel taught once cleansed, which is a common occurrence for me having dehydrated skin. Pai products are formulated for allergic and sensitive skins in mind, so dont contain any nasties and even though they are gentle on the skin, they are extremely effective….it’s my new favourite brand!
Another cleanser that I love, is the Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel, which is a gorgeous gel cleanser made with marula oil. Massaged in to a dry face, this gel turns to a beautiful smelling oil, which, when mixed with water, turns to a milk which removes all impurities from the skin. I prefer to use this one in the morning as it is effective without the need for a hot cloth to remove (although sometimes I do use it like this). This is also suitable for all skin types, and it’s squeezy tube makes it perfect for travelling with. Available from Clarins counters, although cheapest here at Escentual.
I am really happy with my cleansing routine at the moment, the combination of these products seems to suit my sensitive, dehydrated, combination skin really well.
