At this time of the year, I really have to slap on the hand cream. The cold weather causes my hands to get really dry and because I used to get eczema on my hands as a child, I occasionally get flare ups causing the skin to crack which is not pleasant at all. I apply it every night before bed and keep one in my bag and one on my desk to applying during the day. Here are my picks of the best hand creams out there:
Possibly the the best smelling of the bunch is the Balance Me Super Moisturising Hand Cream which smells just like a spa. It contains patchouli oil combined with shea butter and sweet almond oil which gets to work really quickly on those dry hands and the aromatherapy smell relaxes the mind too, making it a perfect pick before bedtime!
The well-loved L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream is a great pick for the handbag. Its super nourishing formula glides on easily and absorbs quickly, leaving your hands feeling super soft. The only thing I am not keen on is the overpowering smell, however this handbag version now comes in a number of different fragrances, I particularly like the mango one!
A great discovery for me last year was the Yes! Nurse Intensive Moisturising Hand Formula which was developed by nurses whose hands really get affected by the constant washing. This has a light, non-greasy formula which is instantly absorbed and without residue. I love it because it does not irritate my sensitive hands in the slightest and it’s sleek little tube fits neatly in your pocket! See my full review here.
My final pick is Kiehl’s Hand Salve which is my most recent discovery and my new favourite! Although fairly thick on application, this unfragranced balm instantly melts into your hands making them feel super nourished without being greasy. The ingredients that include avacado and seasame oil, soothe and moisturise the skin and the formula is so that it forms a ‘glove-like’ protective barrier against moisture loss, keeping your hands softer for longer.
Have you tried any of these hand creams?
