Revlon ColorStay Gel Envy

I am having a bit of a Revlon moment at present, I can’t help myself! After purchasing the ColorStay Moisture Stains (review here), my eyes became drawn to their latest nail release, the ColorStay Gel Envy. I love that high shine glossy finish that a gel manicure gives as well as the longevity it brings, however, I tend to do my nails myself so it’s great that the drugstore offers a similar finish for a fraction of the cost.

I decided on the shade Hot Hand, a bright bubblegum pink which is a nice bright colour for summer. It is one of a whopping thirty shades in the collection! Application is very smooth, although I would say that the brush picks up quite a lot of product, so care is needed not apply too much. That said it doesn’t streak or clump and is opaque and in just one coat (although I always do two, just habit!). The brush is much wider than other Revlon polishes I have tried, although not quite as wide as the Rimmel Salon Pro or Maybelline Super Stay, but makes application a breeze. There is also a base coat built into the formula, so you can forgo the extra step, which is perfect for girls like me that are always doing their nails at the last minute!

Revlon have also released a Diamond Top Coat which I bought at the same time as wanted to see the total effect. It dried quickly and added an amazing glossy gel-like finish to the nails. The lasting power of nail varnish is one of the most important qualities for me and am pleased to report that this manicure lasted me a whole 5 days without chipping! I have quite flakey nails, so this is pretty impressive, I am sure it would even last longer on someone with stronger nails! They are obviously not going to last as long as a real gel manicure as you are not using UV light, however they are definitely the next best thing!

Both polishes are priced at $7.99 in the US and are available now here. UK peeps may have to wait a little longer though, sorry!
