Last year when Mac released their Baking Beauties Collection, everyone, including me, went mad for the Paintpot in Eclair which was a sell out and I remember everyone on Twitter trying to locate stocks around the country! The Mac Pro Longwear Paintpots are some of the best cream eyeshadows around. They apply and blend easily and last for hours and can be used as both a shadow on their own or as a base for other colours. The shade Eclair is a warm toned coppery brown with a subtle golden shimmer to it. It is the perfect compliment to my green eyes as the slight coppery tone to it makes them really pop and is great for creating a warm smokey eye.
For those of you who didn’t manage to get your hands on this, there is now a dupe! The recently launched Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadow in Bronze, which I picked up on my recent trip to the UK last week is pretty much identical in terms of colour. I would say it is a touch lighter and slightly more shimmery, but this is me being pedantic, on the eyes blended in, I couldn’t really tell much difference. There is more blending time with the Max Factor than the Mac as it doesn’t set so quickly which I actually like as you can soften the look easier and take time to blend out the edges. The main difference between the two though is the texture, the Max Factor has a much wetter texture than the Mac making it really easy to blend, whereas the Mac has more of a firmer texture to it, which although you have to work quickly with, literally does not budge once it is in place. As for the longevity, the Max Factor really does last well without creasing, much like the Mac, and was overall I was really impressed with its performance. It is also almost half the price of the Mac, making this an excellent dupe and definitely one to add to your basket next time you are in Boots!
