This post has been a long time coming, but as a beauty blogger I am always trying out new skincare and tend to change up my routine quite a lot. However, I have finally found myself a good routine with products I really like and that work for my skin. Just to let you know a bit about my skin type, I have combination to oily skin (Oily T-zone) that is dehydrated, fairly sensitive and acne-prone.
I start the morning by cleansing my skin with Oskia Renaisance Cleansing Gel, which I have used religiously every morning since I bought my first one, this must be my fifth repurchase I love it that much! It is a beautiful pink gel which turns to an oily balm on application, which I love to massage in for a minute before removing with a warm flannel. I love how hydrating this cleanser is and that it doesn’t strip my skin but just leaves it feeling fresh and balanced.
I then like to spritz my skin with a hydrating face mist, if you have read my blog for a while you will know how obsessed I am with these and you can read about some of my favorites in this post. The Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray is the newest spray in my skincare arsenal. It is is lovely hydrating face spray that is fragrance free and feels very quenching on my dehydrated skin.
Once my skin has dried from the face spray, I apply one pump of Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum, which is enough to cover my whole face. This have become my favorite hydrating serum as it is extremely lightweight, absorbs quickly and really gives the skin a good dose of hydration which I really need to keep my dehydrated skin looking plump and fresh, I really notice a difference if I miss this step.
I then apply my eye cream and in the mornings I love to use a brightening cream to minimize the appearance of dark circles. In the past I have loved the First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Triple Remedy, but at present I have gone back to an old favorite that I used to use years ago, the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream. This is a lovely lightweight cream that is perfect for morning use as it hydrates the eye area whilst also brightening as it contains optical brighteners that make you look as though you have a decent nights sleep. This small sample size has lasted well over a month of daily use and I think I am going to invest in the full size again once it has run out.
The final step in my routine is to moisturize and I absolutely love the Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cream. It is very lightweight but extremely hydrating and doesn’t irritate or break out my sensitive skin. I was having terrible problems finding a decent moisturizer that kept my skin thoroughly hydrated, that wasn’t too rich, so I am so happy that I have found this. It is also great for combating redness and contains lactic acid that gently exfoliates your skin too. I love this!
As you can tell, I use a lot of hydrating products in my morning skincare routine. If you suffer from dehydrated skin like I do, then it is essential that you use hydrating products to retain the water levels in the skin to prevent fine lines, redness, make up absorption (making your make up disappear or appear patchy throughout the day) and keep the skin looking fresh an plump. Remember that you can still have oily skin and be dehydrated, which unfortunately took me years to realize, the important thing is not to strip the skin and keep it as gentle and hydrating as possible.
Please stay tuned as I will also be bringing you my evening skincare routine very soon.
