I am now 20 weeks pregnant, half way through and I am actually feeling great at the moment. After the total exhaustion and nausea from the first trimester, I have so much more energy now I am well into the second trimester (well apart from the exceptionally hot and humid days we are having here in New York!).
We had our anatomy scan last week which was amazing, our little girl is growing well and everything is as it should be. We got to see her tiny hands and feet and they checked over her whole body for any abnormalities. It is so reassuring to know that she is healthy and developing well, they also confirmed that she was a little girl (which we knew from a previous blood test, but was nice to double check!).
Fitness wise, I have been managing to go to Soulcycle twice a week, which has kept me active and generally more motivated. I seriously love going, and find it a great release of any stress or negativity that I may have. I always come out feeling so uplifted and positive about everything! I am going to try and keep it up for as long as I feel able to with my growing bump.
I have been trying to eat quite healthily, obviously there are days where I slip up, but have been making a conscious effort to eat nutritiously. I have been making homemade granola which is so delicious combined with fresh fruit and greek yoghurt for breakfast. I have also been making a lot of smoothies as I got a Nutribullet for my birthday, so have been enjoying creating lots of different recipes, which I like as a mid-morning pick me up.
My skin has also improved after the last month or so, it has definitely go a lot clearer and I am not getting so many blemishes or hormonal acne as I was earlier in my pregnancy. I haven’t really changed much in my skincare routine, although I have stopped using the Glamglow Supercleanse (which I used in the evenings) as much, as found I needed something more hydrating. I have therefore been using my favorite Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel day and night, which has helped to keep it clear and hydrated. I have also recently been trying the Nude Rescue Oil, which I had a deluxe sample of from Sephora. It is very lightweight so absorbs immediately and doesn’t leave any oily residue on the skin. As much as I enjoy other face oils, they can sometimes feel a little heavy on the skin but this is beautiful and leaves skin super smooth, clear and with a more even tone. I will definitely be investing in the full size once this has run out! Apart from that I have just been using my regular skincare (see morning and evening skincare routine), making sure I keep it throughly hydrated which is key during pregnancy.
To treat my bump, I have been using the Burts Bees Mama Bee Belly Butter (see review) to keep things smooth and supple and ward off any stretch marks. I have nearly finished this one though, and am now awaiting the arrival of the Pai Stretch Mark System, which was recommended by Ruth from A Model Recommends, so really looking forward to testing out this out as I think Pai products are amazing!
I think thats about it for now, roll on the next 20 weeks!
Come and join me!
