I am quite fickle when it comes to haircare, frequently changing between products and brands, but I have finally found a routine that I am completely happy with. Having fine, color treated hair, I have always found that I have to compromise between protecting the color and adding volume, without overloading my hair as not to weigh it down. Over the past few months, I have been trying a number of Pureology products, which I have honestly fallen head over heels in love with. Pureology products are sulphate free and contain anti-fade complex so they do not strip the hair of color and also protect it from UVA/UVB rays. There are so many dual benefit formulas that are targeted at different hair types, e.g. volume, smoothing, hydrating etc., which protect the color at the same time.
The shampoo and conditioner formulation that I have been loving is the Pure Volume range, which I can honestly say is the only ‘volume’ shampoo and conditioner that I have ever really enjoyed using. I previously left adding volume until I styled my hair, as a lot of the volume shampoos and conditioners I tried left my hair too fluffy and unmanageable, without giving the nourishment to the ends of my hair which is where it really need it. The Pureology Pure Volume Shampoo*, gently cleanses my hair, removing any build up and once styled it actually gives it lift at the roots and feels incredibly lightweight. The Pureology Pure Volume Conditoner*, doesn’t particularly give me any added volume, but leaves the ends nourished without weighing my hair down at all. The combination of both of these products is perfect, as I get the lift at the roots where I really need it, and still get the nourishment I need without being too heavy for my fine hair. I love that these products are protecting my color at the same time, they really are a perfect combination for me!
Also from the same range, I have become completely obsessed with the Pureology Pure Volume Instant Levitation Mist*, which I spray in the roots before blow drying. This gives my hair an extra lift, plus a lot of body and bounce that is much needed on my otherwise, fairly lifeless hair. It not only adds volume, but also protects from heat too and I love that it is a spray formulation which prevents the hair from getting too overloaded with product. I cannot rave enough about this, it is brilliant!
Every few shampoos, I make sure I use the Kerastase Cement Thermique, which is a product I cannot live without. Having such fine hair, I am prone to damage from coloring my hair and using heat, so really need to keep this to a minimum. This is a reconstructing milk, which is activated through heat and really is a wonder product for strengthening my weak hair and prevent my from getting split ends. I have reviewed this product in detail here, but I real recommend it for anyone who has damaged hair or who want to prevents further damage.
Finally, and by no means least is the only styling product I ever use once my hair is dried, and that is the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. If you have fine, lifeless hair, you need this in your life as just a couple sprays of this adds and injection of voluminous texture whilst holding your style in place. It is really is magic in a can and instantly adds life to my hair, especially when I am having a bad hair day. Definitely worthy of all the hype it gets!
