February Favourites

February has been a quiet month in terms of beauty purchases for me, I have been trying to use up some products that I have had for a while to make room for all the new Spring/Summer launches that are going to be hitting out shelves next month! Therefore, I have a bit of an assortment of beauty products in this months favorites, some old(ish!) and some new but some definite gold star products that I can see being favorites for a long time to come.

February Favourites

My first pick is the Garnier Micellar Oil Cleanser which is a hybrid between a cleansing oil and a micellar water, both of which are my preferred choices of makeup removal. The oil in the Micellar formula really gets to work on eye makeup and removes all traces of even waterproof mascara without pulling at the eyes. It is very gentle but extremely effective and a great bargain buy! On a side note, I tried the wipes of this formula too but these were not that effective, so don’t waste your money! I picked this up in the UK before Christmas, as it is not yet available in the US yet, however, you can buy it from Look Fantastic with free worldwide delivery!

I have another cleanser in this month favourite which should be no surprise if you have read my review, and that is the Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse. This solid cleansing oil removes makeup easily and then the cleansing cream does a really thorough job at cleansing the skin gently. I love how gentle, yet effective this cleanser is and that its free from fragrance and ingredients that cause breakouts to reactive skins like mine. It is a top rate product, my only gripe with this is that you don’t get an awful lot of product so am running out of it rather quickly!

A haircare product that I have been loving this month is the Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1, which is a volumizer, texturized and dry shampoo all in one. Having fine hair, it often gets quite flat, so I always need some kind of texturing spray to give it some lift. I tend to spray it near the roots and this gives me instant volume, but also hold, so whenever I spray it after styling, my hair stays in place too which I love. It feels quite soft in the hair, so doesn’t go crispy at all, but does add a little dryness which is great for me as my roots get oilier throughout the day. I wouldn’t use it as a dry shampoo alone, but it is amazing for giving your hair a boost during the day!

February Favourites

A couple of weeks ago I attended the Makeup Geek pop-up shop that they held in NYC, which was great as although it was pretty busy, it allowed me to swatch all the shadows and other MUG products. Being an online retailer, I always have to google swatches for MUG shadows, so it was great to see for myself which shades I liked. Unfortunately there was a long wait for products on the day, so I made myself a list of all the shades I liked and will order online soon. It did make me however start using my makeup geek shadows again and made me realized how great these shadows are, smooth to apply, easy to blend and great longevity. A recent addition to my collection is the shade Magic Act (bottom right) and is a beautiful gold, foiled shadow that looks so pretty paired with creme brûlée and frappe through the crease for a warm bronzy effect!

Another product which I have recently raved about is the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (see my review), which is just the most perfect concealer as it covers everything, dark circles, blemishes, redness, you name it! The best thing about this concealer though is how it applies, no brushes or sponges are really required and you can literally just swipe it onto your skin without any real blending and it just covers instantly, its amazing! It leaves a matte finish but it doesn’t make the skin look flat or cakey as it contains hyaluronic acid in its formula to keep the skin looking plump so that the concealer doesn’t settle into fine lines! I love this so much!

And finally, a lip product that I have been toying with getting for a while, but finally bought when I saw how amazing it looked on Adele at the Grammy’s this year and that is the Marc Jacobs Beauty Liquid Lip Creme in Fawn Over Me. This peachy nude shade is just me all over and have come a tiny bit obsessed with it, it is perfection! I personally never got sucked into the whole liquid lip obsession that has been going on over the past couple of years, as I hate the feeling of dry lips. This formula is different however, it feels just like a regular lipstick as it doesn’t dry down too much, yet still leaves a matte finish to the lips. It has definitely got me enjoying liquid lipsticks again, I will just have to be picky with the formulas I buy!
