There is a new IT cleanser in town, which really needs no introduction as it, quite rightly has be causing a commotion in the skincare world! The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse was a bit of a no brainer purchase for me when it launched last month, as Pixi Beauty is a brand that I have come to love and trust and when skincare guru, Caroline Hirons gets involved I couldn’t hand my money over quick enough!
I think it may have been Caroline that actually taught me the importance of double cleansing and its honestly something that I think has really improved my skin. I can’t quite remember what I used to use, but I think it involved face wipes and then a cleanser, so I was half-way there, but now my cleansing routine is everything to me and I ensure I double cleanse every night without fail as I know my skin will suffer if I don’t. I really enjoy using a cleansing oil as my first cleanse as it really breaks down all the makeup on my face, leaving me with a clean face in which I can thoroughly benefit from the actions of my cleanser that follows. My go-to cleansers for this is The Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Oil followed by Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which a combination that really works for me and my skin feels happy with, so for something to top this combo has got to be special!
The Pixi + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse, is a sturdy pot containing two different cleansers to be used in conjunction with each other. On one side you have a solid cleansing oil which should be used as the first cleanse to break down and remove all your makeup, before cleansing with the cleansing cream contained in the other side. With both cleansers I apply to dry skin and remove with a warm cloth as I find this is the most effective way of cleansing as instructed by Mrs. Hirons herself!
What I absolutely love about this cleansing duo is that it is free from fragrance, mineral oil and shea butter which are all things that my reactive skin cannot tolerate. Instead they have used camellia oil and evening primrose oil, which my combination to oily, dehydrated skin seems to really enjoy. The solid cleansing oil melts on the skin on application and gently removes every scrap of makeup whilst leaving my skin feeling comfortable. The cleansing cream feels very nourishing and hydrating and leaves my skin feeling clean and soft and in no way stripped at all.
I love the way this cleanser make my skin feel, it really is a lovely product which does the job of cleansing gently and effectively and I really enjoy using it each evening. I have not encountered an adverse effects from using this cleanser such as breakouts or redness so it is definitely one that I would recommend. The only negative for me is that I am going through it at a rate of knots, as there is only 50ml of each cleanser and after one month of using it every evening I am probably half way through it already! Congratulations Caroline on your first skincare launch, its a goodun’!
